AdvaMed Code of Ethics

The new, revised AdvaMed Code of Ethics went into effect on January 1, 2020. This course is the only online training officially certified by AdvaMed. Completion of this course will earn an annual certification in the AdvaMed Code of Ethics. The course includes four modules and a post-test that takes the learner on a journey filled with ethical quandaries and questions. Through simulated day-to-day interactions with Health Care Professionals, the learner encounters opportunities to determine the best possible outcome based on the Code. This course meets the ANSI standards for rep credentialing training.

• At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the role of compliance in the medtech industry
  • Understand your role in helping Health Care Professionals (HCPs) deliver high quality health care
  • Identify the Cornerstone Values of the AdvaMed Code of Ethics
  • Identify the elements of an Effective Compliance Program
  • Define an unlawful inducement
  • Understand situations in which engagement of HCPs is necessary
  • Assess when a legitimate need arises
  • Evaluate consulting arrangements, including the selection of HCPs and compensation considerations
  • Identify considerations related to communications about the safe and effective use of medical technology
  • Understand guidelines for company representatives providing technical support in the clinical setting
  • Understand and apply principles for conducting appropriate training and education
  • Analyze applications of legitimate need
  • Identify considerations related to grants, donations, and commercial sponsorships
  • Understand the prohibitions and ethical practices on providing HCPs with travel and lodging, meals and refreshments, and entertainment and recreation
  • Identify educational items, promotional items, and gifts
  • Adhere to the Code’s guidelines on evaluation, demonstration and consignment products
